Much excitement just now when I heard an (admittedly brief) news clip on Radio 5 about the British Library, who have placed the contents of 49 newspapers (national and local) dating from 1800 to 1900 online.
Very nice idea, sadly when I looked at the site it's not free, and a little too pricey for casual browsing. Still, who wouldn't want to read the Illustrated Police News, the Chartist Circula, the Hull Packet, the Odd Felow or the Trewman's Exeter Flying Post?
